Rode her hard, it is now almost a year old with ZERO problems that can't be attributed to O.E.

Seating the rings, or breaking in the motor.

For a new bike you're effectively breaking in everything, cams, valvetrain, rings, even settling gaskets. Doest hurt to check torque specs on parts of the engine and of course the bike itself. Some will come loose, some may not have been tight enough from the factory.

Careful on the torquing stuff again.........I know on the predator(in other words, don't know about the yfz)......many bolts are loc-tited.....and if you retorque them you'll bust the loctite loose.....and then you might actually end up loosing something......

I'm more or less suggesting to check that none are loosening or getting ready to fall out, rather than going around every exposed bolt with a torque wrench. But excellent point and I know that many of the main engine bolts are loctited on the yamahas.

Been using moto-man's method on my last few machines, been very happy with the results and will continue to use it. My old raptor had a noticeable and repeateable hp edge on my cousin's old bike. They were off the same delivery truck and produced on or near the same date. I used motoman, he used a modified version of the owner's manual, basically baby it for a while then get on it. It was enough proof for me.

Ive adopted the method that my engine building instructors use... start it, let it run at high idle (3500 rpm)for about 15 minutes, shut it off, change the oil + filter, start it back up, ride for about 3 hours, change filter again, top off oil, keep riding for another hour or so, then wide open it till the 10 hour mark... then oil and filter change again... its a bit expensive, but they all swear by it...
