Default accelerator pump

Edelbrock carbs are supposed to give YFZ's 5 hp. Is this due to the accelerator pump? If so, can I just buy a Boyseen or Pro Circuit accelerator pump and get close to the same gain for a third of the price?

Well the FCR that comes on the bike stock has an accelerator pump, so if it's a 5hp gain I'm not sure that's the source.

I don't know how the Edlebrock carb can give the YFZ more ponies (unless you buy a bigger carb and have engine work to compensate), the stock FCR is a better carb IMO. Most people don't notice a huge gain in power from just a carb, but rather a increase in throttle response or quickness. Most people that say they got a big increase from carbs is in engines that have been built to need more fuel and air than the stock carb can provide. I see no reason to swap out the FCR for the Edlebrock at all if the bikes internal engine is staying stock...even with minor internal mods the stock FCR should still be big enough.
