1997 Big Bear 350 4x4 Won't Idle
First off...Welcome to the Forum.
Assuming the Throttle Stop screw is adjusted high enough so the motor will continue to run at an idle...
1) Make sure the Air Filter is clean.
2) Check for obvious crimped, or bad hoses coming from the carb.
3) It's possible the Pilot screw needs adjusted (since you bought it used, maybe someone else was messing with it). It should at least idle when it is turned out 3 turns. Final adjustment may be needed from 3 turns out.
4) MOST LIKELY - The carb probably needs taken apart and cleaned. Some carb cleaner and compressed air, if available, will be needed. If it idles with the choke pulled out, the float needle and seat are most likely OK (if the float needle was bad, running with the choke pulled would only make the matter worse). If there are any diaphragm assemblies, scrutinize these closely for any holes or rips.
***If you get to this point...you need to empty your gas tank and take the petcock assy out of the bottom. If the tank has a bunch of crap in it, as soon as you turn the fuel back on to the cleaned carb, it will just get a bunch of dirt right back in it. I've been bitten by this before.
Good Luck

I agree with the above. Chances are they left it sit with fuel in the bowl and it just needs a good cleaning, but you never know what previous owners can do. I suggest getting a manual for it and go through the whole carb. After cleaning the carb I would also add a inline fuel filter. Cheap insurance against dirty fuel.
