Default Recall on 700s

I talked to a guy that does warrenty work down here in Florida and he said that half of the people that bought 700s are having problems with it overheating. He told me that there is a back thermal switch that kicks on the fan. I dont know if he is right, but I hope he is. He also told me that Yamaha hasnt come out with anything to fix it. Yamaha is telling people that they are riding it to hard. He said it was a common thing about hearing about these bikes overheating. What do you guy think.

why not, its there to cool the motor when it gets warm, it comes on sometimes, not often very rare, also same thing with my bros 660 and my dads kodiak, if were putting along slow on a trail and stop they usally all kick on, but if were moving at a good pace they wont.

thats what mine does. Is that common. YOu would think that the fan pushes enough air to keep that light off. Other guys on this board ride hard and their light has never come on. Is it normal for this light to come on.

so what am I to do till the recall is out. am I to just sit around waiting for the recall or can I ride it anyways.
I think the sensor is just bad and that should be an easy fix if yamaha starts handing out new switches at their expense and with a 50% chance at workiing. well I am at it I shold take 2 to better my odds.

my friend and i both bought the same bike ( raptor 700r) both stock, and his had no problem. mine worked fine but it kept me close to camp riding around with my temp light on. I guess that is the part I must take when testing new yamaha at my expenses.

the light came when I was riding hard and when I was putting around with my kid on there little 90. so if I go to slow the light comes on and if I go to fast the light comes on but and the fan should not come on I guess till it is to hot.
I am sorry but what I am hearing is that someone thinks the light should come on before the fan. sorry but I want my fan to turn on before my light turns on just like 100% of all the other atv's that do have them. if not I guess I should hook up my own mannual swith to the fan. I guess that would like nice a 06 bike in nov of 05 with a mickey mouse radio shack swith on the handerbars.
