Default Raptor Transmission Slipping? Is this possible?

Can the raptor transmission slip?

There has been a few instances in upper gears where it felt like there was a neutral bewtween gears after shifting. However, I'd let off on the throttle and it would go into gear.

Could it just be my clutch slipping?

What's up with that?

It could just be a missed shift, I would think that if the clutch was slipping you would notice it in all the gears.

Missed shift? You mean I didn't jam it to gear hard enough and it was between gears?

I wonder if this is bad for it.

No way the trans could be slipping. After any of the gear engagement dogs slipped / lost contact with each other, they would never stay together under pressure afterwards. Probably take a lot of wear fir this to happen. If it's not a simple missed shift you may want to inspect the shift drum for proper function and abnormal wear.

GaryC,

I was thinking that too. If it slipped, it would be done for. There is no noise and it is fine otherwise.

Also, Craycraft just went thru the trans 300 miles ago. He said everything looked great.

If have a stock clutch with a Craycraft motor. Could it just be clutch slippage? It only happens when I am hammering the crap out of the bike in 3rd to 4th or to 5th. But, it doesn't slip at 2nd gear hole shots.

Does the bike go into a complete neutral or is it still pulling a bit when this happens? When the clutch is going out you don't loose everything and it come right back.....are you sure it's not still pulling some when this occurs? If so...definately sounds like the clutch pack.

It will rev high quickly like its in neutral. I am at W.O.T when it does this. It may be pulling slightly, not much at all. I let off the throttle and it grabs suddenly.

It just happens so fast. It's all over and you think WTF was that.

its your clutch. that would happen to me too! I would be racing up a dune in 2nd or 3rd gear and all of a sudden it would rev up like in neutral and then I would let off and it would grab again. Get yourself a GYTR clutch kit.

GregV, good to see 'ya around. Masterraptor, when changing the clutch, if you roll the front of the side cover up towards yourself (up) and pull up, the cover will slip right off. Tight fit though.
