On the price issue, the best thing I've found so far is $6,955 cash out the door. Is this a fair price or should I find something better?

If you can get a 700R for 6955 OTD I'd go for it, that's about about as fair a deal as your going to find if your on the Left coast.

I just checked out Abernathy's web site. $6194 plus tax. Damn that's a good deal, but 12 hours from my house. I may have to make that drive though.

If you cant find someone to let you ride one before you buy, at least go sit on each bike your considering on the show room floor. A few months ago, I had it narrowed down to an 06 YFZ 450 or 700. I didnt know anybody with either bike, so i sat on them. I made my decision instantly. At 5'11", the YFZ felt like a kids bike to me. It was uncomfotable to hunch over to the low lying handlebars, and the bike just felt small overall. I sat on the 700 and it felt comfortable, excellent layout.

The rest is history!
