a few dumb questions from a beginner..
if you are in the 5th gear, and suddenly want to emergency brake, what do you do exactly if u wanna stop as fast as possible?do u still have to downshift one by one?
also, atvs have 2 brakes, one in the right hand lever and one for the right foot, what are these called?
also, on a raptor700 how do u engage the reverse gear?and what's that rev. switch that doesnt seem to do anything?
THANx...

You must be new to quads.
If you need to stop quick, hit the foot (rear) brake and the right hand brake which is the front brakes. You don't have to worry about down shifting, you will just kill the motor. If you don't want to kill the motor, pull the clutch in too.
Downshift under normal slowing situations.
You turn the reverse **** and kick the shifter down simultaneously, thats how you get into reverse.
Does your Dad know that you are playing with his quad when he is gone?

thanx i just have 1 more question...so on atv's (yamaha) 1st you upshift from neutral to 1st by pressing DOWN on the shifter, why is that?why isnt it by pressing up?and what about going from 1st to 2nd?can someone explain the system?

1st you push down from neutral. Its this way to keep neutral away from the end of the shift pattern so you don't hit it accidentally.
The shift sequence is R-1-N-2-3-4-5.
R is all the way down, 5 is all the way up. You have to turn the reverse **** to go from 1 to R.
Semi automatic quads are ussually R-N-1-2-3-4-5.

Lets all play nice. Thats why people join the forum.. I'm a noob here too. I came across a good deal on a 01 Banshee 350 twin..... yeah needless to say I am in up over my head... I am still a little confused on the shift sequence; Can I get more help on that? Also does the power band kick out at lower rpms?

It's a 2 stroke you need to keep that baby's ear turned(on the throttle)..True it won't have tons of low end power like a rappy, but ride that baby right and it will go anywhere the 4 pokes will

Ask all the questions you want. No one wants to see someone on a Shee that is unable to use its potential. Once you get it down, you'll have twice the fun.

i'm a lil confused as well,,,,why would someone who knows so little about riding, and i say riding, because its obvious that they have no experiance on any type of bike,street,quad,3-wheeler,dirt,or snow,,,,how they can justify STARTING OUT on a 700R,,,one word,,,suicidal
that shift pattern has been used on all types of bikes for many years, this is how i know you have no experiance
you need to wrap yourself in bubble wrap, cuz your going to get hurt,,,im not trying to be mean,or ignorant,,,just an observation
