Hi all, I have a 2000 Warrior with stock tires on it now and I was looking to get new ones. Maybe just rears for now. I was looking at Maxxis razors 22x11x9 on ITP .160 aluminium rims. I mostly do trail riding (I will play on a track a little if there is no one else on it). Is that a good choice? How about the size? I know some people use 20x11x9, what would the difference be in preformence? Also would the Razors be a good choice for trail riding? One more question are the rims really necessary, or should I just use the stock ones?

 

The difference between 22 inch tires and 20's is that with 22's you lose an inch of ground clearance with the 20's. I think the Razor is a good choice, but you might also want to consider Holeshot HD's which in my opinion, are a great trail tire because of the tread pattern and the fact that they are 6-ply. Also, with 20 inch tires, you will have better throttle response because the tires will spin quicker.

 

I would pick holeshot HD's for a good trail tire. 20's give you better cornering in addition to what counterpunch mentioned, but in trails 22's are a better choice for the ground clearance. I don't see a point in getting new wheels unless your old ones are bent or banged up, there's really not going to be a difference other than the way they look. .160's would be stronger, but for trail riding the stock ones should be strong enough

i tried it once, and never will again. We couldn't get the old tires off the rims in 2 hours. It should only cost about $20 to get the tires swapped.

 

Well the HD,S weigh 4-5 pounds more than the razr,s so i would get the razr,s thats alot of weight which means less power by packing on the weight and the best part about a aftermarket wheel is it will give you a off set makeing it a lil wider for better cornering.

 

for warriors all you have to do is put the rear wheel on backwards to make it wider. For the additonal durability, traction, and sidewall bite you get with the HD's I think it's worth the extra weight. You'll never feel an extra 8 pounds on a warrior anyways.

Kenda Klaw 20"(21" rollout) are by far the best all aroudn tire and have gotten me through mud over a foot deep. They are essentually a paddle in knobble form when turned for loose conditinos( multidirectional tread)
Plus i only paid $40 a tire for my Klaws.
