Do these exist? Has anyone put one on? Any problems with overheating? Was just curious and thought they might run cooler with one. the yamaha site says the warrior is oil cooled, but it doesn't have an oil cooler.

I think you can swap an oil cooler off of a....Wolverine? I'm not sure, one of Yamaha's 4x4's uses one that will bolt on easily to the Warrior. I dont know if it would help that much, thats why I havent done it.

I'm sure an oil cooler would not hurt (if you could find one) but on the other hand, the Warrior is a sport quad after all, & if it's ridden as such, the airflow across the fins seem to be adequate cooling even here in central Az where a cool day is about 90 degrees. If it is going to be ridden as a utility type in lower gears & rpms with minimal air flow for extended times, then I suppose an oil cooler would be a good idea.

I've been told a factory cooler off of a Wolverine or a Big Bear will bolt right up very easily. Also, If you've seen the 500cc build-up from Four Stroke Tech for the Warrior, Mickey Dunlap says he would not run a stock Warrior without an oil cooler and he supplies one with the kit, but I'm sure you could buy it by itself.

Mickey Dunlap does sell the oil cooler seperately, for about $100. I've had mine about a year now. The kit comes complete except for the 1/8" pipe tap that you need for the holes you'll drill in the clutch cover. Total install time was about two hours.

I did a total rebuild on my 88 warrior and wanted an oil cooler for the tight slow trails. I used a oil filter cover, spacer and bolts from a late eighties big bear. the cooler is a power steering cooler (part # 771-1009) I got from JEGS auto racing catalog (www.jegs.com) it is 5"x7" you cant fit much bigger. my lines I had made at a place that makes hydrolic hoses, they also put standard fittings on the big bear cover to make the cooler and cover fittings the same. Total cost was just under $100 and it works great.
