I Just bought an 05 leftover. The engine is stock. Did the 20 hour tune up. Heres a list of what it does. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. I have an full day ride tomorrow and want it running great.

Smokes a lot during warmup and still to much when riding.
Plug is black and oily.
Very sluggish for the first few minutes of riding even after warmup.
Stalls a lot during warmup.
When I let off the throttle the idle takes about 3-5 seconds to settle down.

Any thoughts? There is a brass flat head screw on the carb, near the choke. When I first bought the quad I thought it was the idle and turned it. I think I got it back in the right place but i'm not sure. What is that screw?

did u change the rings?
ajust the valves?
running rich?

one of those 3 r probly what it is.

 

I haven't changed or adjusted anything but that screw. How can it run rich with tthe oil injection? Sorry for my ignorance. I am good with cars...not two stroke quads

 

that screw is your air/fuel mixture screw and to put it back to stock turn it in all the way...not too tight..and turn it out 1 1/2 turns.

first thing is add a pipe. get a filter n jet kit. and if u still have money get a 240 kit. uwill have in the 40s for hp then. thats as much hp as a yfz

 

also i heard 400ex and raptor shocks fit the rear end of the blaster. i have a stock rear 400ex shock if u want one. ill sell at a good price to.

 

definately buy a full aftermarket pipe...and get a k & n air filter...and new reeds....then jet it properly and that should be enough for now

Just wanted to throw in a couple pennies..First off 2 strokes don't have valves [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]..2nd a raptor shock will NOT work..It will lower the rear end by about 3 inches and your airbox will hit your swingarm and the smallest of jumps..But a 400ex, 86-89 TRX250R, Z400, or KFX 400 rear shock will all swap with a ton of improvment in ride quality..For a completly stock bike the first thing I would(and did) buy is rear tires..Those stock ching chen bubble tires suck..Next would be a good pipe..I would go with a LRD(and did [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img])..LRD has a dyno on there website showing a stock blaster at 17hp and after bolting there pipe on at 25hp..IT made a huge difference in my bike!..Anyways good luck with it, there great bikes when there souped up a little [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
