Yamaha Rhino Failure after 15 months
#1
I bought a Yamaha Rhino in Sept '04 and have loved it til this week when the stator assembly has to be replaced at a cost of $700.00 +. Yamaha should have helped since the unit is only 15 months old but refused saying it was past the warranty period of six months. I have never heard of the stator assembly going out on any motorcycle until the unit was 5+years old. To anyone who is considering purchaing a Rhino BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

I've had a few stators (cars and motorcycles) go out on me, all of mine were outside of the warranty period as well. Suck it up, the warrnaty covers things during the warranty period only.

Sorry "suck it up" is for people like you that dont want to make companys accountable! or for people that are arrogant and ignorant that work for big companies that dont care about the little guy. I understand duckhunters frustrations. He is right, if it failed and it was not due to abuse or tampering then Yamaha should go good go for it if they are any kind of company! Failure after 15 months is inexcusable and unacceptable! C'mon Yamaha dont treat everyone like they are trying to beat the system. The money is not necessarily the issue but its the principle!!!Text

If anything broke on my quad in 15 months time and I was given the same answer you were, I would never buy another Yamaha. I'm sorry but anything costing over $7000 should last more than 15 months without problems. Now something that was abused would be a different story.
Maybe I am just used to our Honda's running 3-4 years without problems daily on the farm. My pops has a 5+ year old recon that averages 2hours daily farm use that has only had oil changes since purchased new.

I would think you could get a stator yourself and replace it in a couple house and save yourself around 400 bucks.

Everyone knows these machines have a limited warrenty, yet when something happens outside of the time period, they dont want to pay for it. I took it upon myself to be resposible for my machines and actually enjoy wrenching on them. Things happen, and stuff breaks. Dealers want an arm and a leg to fix toys, that is why I take it upon myself to do all the work I can. Not only that, but I also learn something about my machine and how it works in the process.

Seriously......lif your not happy with yamaha's warranty, then buy another machine. A stator can be purchased for under $300 and is an EASY project for the DIY'er.
Why is everyone so quick to blame a manufacturer for thier problem when it happens well outside of the advertised warranty period?
