05 blaster clutch problem

Ok i havent ridden my blaster in like 3 months. It's been sitting outside which is my fault and probably led to this problem. Anyway, i'm not sure if there is supposed to be a little plug that goes into the opening on top of the clutch case behind the plastic clutch/chain cover, but it got full of water. I didnt realize it until today when i kicked it over and water shot out. So i took off the cover and sure enough it was half full of standing water. Now when i ride it, it will pull itself with the clutch lever pulled in and its really hard to shift when riding. Also, when riding if i let off of it and pull in the clutch, instead of rolling it rapidly starts to slow down much like a car or truck if you let off the gas and don't push in the clutch. Needless to say it seems like the clutch is shot. Is there a way to check it to see if its all rusted up or beat up or what? Anybody else had this problem?

man look its not like i did it on purpose. Sometime i tend to ride a little rough on the trails and stuff so apparantly that plug popped out along the way. Its not like i purposely tossed the plug and stuck a funnell in it and filled it full of water. I have nowhere to store it except for outside so please don't make me look like a bad guy here accidents happen, thats why i am trying to figure out whats wrong so i can fix the problem.

Everything in the bottom end of your engine is probably rusted to hell now, the clutch should probably be the least of your worries because a clutch kit only costs like $60. I'd be more worried about all the bearings and other moving parts being damaged, because that's an expensive fix. The right thing to do is probably to split the cases and clean/replace everything that got rusted out.

Well i just rode the blaster around for a little while and everything has loosened back up. It rides just as good if not better than it did before. So if the clutch plates were rusted together or anything then i guess they have broken free because its shifting and everything just fine. Thanks for the help/critisism

change that oil a few times before you ride it too much. Even if the rust broke loose, you don't want it floating around in your oil and getting stuck in the bearings, and there's probably still some moisture left. Hopefully you got lucky and it'll be ok, good luck.

change the oil? its a 2 stroke. I changed the transmission fluid yesterday
