Hey guys , first off just wanna say I bought the new Raptor and it's a wicked fun quad to ride, yamaha really put some serious thought into this machine, right from front to back , they set bar high that's for sure.

I have one question for those who have had theirs for a while .. this summer I will be modifiying the air box and installing a set of LTR dual exhaust , but until that time I just wanted to remove the stock baffle , curious wheather or not that will make much difference and if so , is it safe on the motor ? I've read some past posts , but I just wanted to confirm.

Any performance modification to the 700R without an EFI controller is NOT SAFE. However, there are always those that live life on the edge.

By the way, thats LTE not LTR. LTE does have access to the Boss Industries Gen III EFI controller.

Exactly what ODP says..........
However, if you DO remove the lid and sparky, you will notice a difference. Its definately faster without them. Just how safe it is I'm not sure. I rode 1 day like this but I put them back in cause I didn't want to chance it. It wasn't backfiring or anything though.

You'll run lean, just how lean you will run will depend on how much extra flow you put to it. Its impossible to know how lean is too lean unless you do a plug chop, even then, its hard to know for sure unless you are an expert or have access to an A/F sniffer. Usually, Backfiring is a sign of a lean condition. Personally, I've always run my quad a little on the lean side, but not so lean to cause damage.

Right on , thanks for the feedback guys. I;m thinking I'll just leave as is until I get my new exhaust system.

How the heck do you remove the sparky? I removed the allen bolt but it will not budge. I don't want to beat it all to hell trying to remove it. Any tips???

Thanks,
