IVE NOTICED ON MY RAPTOR THAT WHILE RIDING TRAILS WITH THE RAPTOR THAT WHEN NEEDING TO GO TO 2ND ITS ALWAYS BOGGING CUZ NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP UP THE RPMS, PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME ITS THE GEARING IN THEM AND ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT AS WELL(THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING I WAS DOING LOL) SO IM WONDERING THE THIS SUPPOSED 12 TOOTH FRONT SPROCKET WILL SOLVE THIS GEARING PROBLEM..BASICALLY ITS EITHER 1ST AINT FAST ENOUGH OR SECOND IS BOGGING!!!

put a 12t on mine 10 days ago and took it to the woods. solved the 1st to 2nd prob for me and improved 300 ft speed. is even quicker now..

just my experience

P.S. i am over 300lb. could have been part of the prob in the first place.

 

what company made the sprocket that you put on?....thanx for the help!!

 

I put an 11 countershaft front on mine and its perfect for the woods, 2nd pulls all tight trails. I got my sprocket from a local dealer took my original one up and matched it up its the same as a kaw mojave but I think you can get them from renthal now mine is from sprocket specialties they make 11 and 12 tooth sprockets. I'd go with and 11 if I were you 12 is still a bit high for the tight trails and dont worry and 11 isnt to small and it wont hurt you quad one bit and it can be installed without removing a link out of the chain!
(01 yamaha raptor with full PRM skids, CR250 cluth perch and lever, Renthal FAT Bars, Vortex Motion Pro Twist Throttle, 20"razor tires on off set banshee wheels this gives it a wider stance works great) soon I will be getting PRM summit front bumper, Graydonproline full exhaust different air box wider +2 axle and graydonproline +2 swing arm!

 

Xtreme165....Sorry that this is a bit off of the main subject, but I was wondering about the Ranthal "Fat" Bars. Do they bolt right up? Do they come in colors? Generally....how do the bars set compared to stock? What part number did you order? Thank you very much!

 

gary660r, The renthal fat bars come in black and they dont bolt ritht up you have to buy a universal mounting kit made by pro taper. I run the CR high bend bar and with the universal mounting kit it sets the bars height between reg renthal bars and the stock bars which I feel is the perfect height because to me the stock bars sit to high and then I tried a pair of regular renthal handlebars without the mounting kit and they were to low, so I got the univrsal mounting kit from pro taper and the renthal fat bars (which are the same as pro taper bars but there black thats why I went with them) and mounted them and the height and feel is perfect better controll. I am not sure of the part #'s I have the boxes at home for the mounting kit and bars I'll try to remember to get them tonight and post them tomarrow, I'm at work and I dont have a PC at home. If you go to a shop near you tell them or call them if you want the # sooner and ask them for the part # or tell them to order it for you. Once again its a Pro Taper universal mounting kit for ATV's and CR high bend Renthal Fat Bars.
