Forget the YFZ comparison, thats been hashed out way to many times on here and just starts pissin matches

Bone stock I found both the 660R and 700 to be pooches IMO but the 700 had a lot more noticable pull thru the gears.

Do these three mods on a 700,
Power Commander III, GYTR filter Kit and one of the popular exhaust systems like the CT, Sparks, Trinity or LTE duals,
down load the map for your mods or better yet have it dyno tuned and your going to need a +4' swingarm if your into dunning, hillshooting or flat dragging. With the above mods you will have a 50 plus HP wheelie machine if tuned well and it will have more punch mod for mod than an equally prepared 660 and that's from the second you hit the throttle untill you bounce her off the rev limiter.
This has been my personal experience as I have owned both the 600R and 700R.

And 135Boom, I'm not looking to get into any long winded pissin match with you on this either. From what I have seen you post your 700 is still bone stock so you have not personally experienced what a modded and well tuned 700R runs like and as far as stock to stock, who leaves their quads bone stock anyway? The least I have ever done is air filter, jetting and a slip on or full pipe on every machine I have ever owned, and I've owned quite a few over the years

I recently went riding with a guy that just bought a 700, I got to ride it. It was a real improvement on suspension, but the power wasn't as impressive as everbody says. It was a slight improvement over a 660 stock to stock, but wasn't something that impressed me enough to trade my 660 in for. All I am saying is that I will give it a couple years to see where it goes before I get one. I think I will always keep my 660 though, it has impressed me the most, and I have big plans in the future for it. I do like the 700 though!!!

Are they faster? Sure. Do they handle better? Heck yes. Is the 700 making the 660 obsolete junk? Not at all.

Are many of the new 700 owners just as cocky or more so than 660 owners were back in 00/01? You bet.

Hey man, ther is NO reason to get into a pissing match at all. You stated what you think and what your experiences have been, so did I.....jsut like everyone else I suspect!
I am indeed still stock on the 700, but the mrs. is wanting to do the 3 mods to it soon. SO, no I dont know what the 700 is like personally with those mods. The mods you desribed as the least you have ever done is the same way with me too. You have to understand that the 700 isnt the machine that I ALWAYS am riding, and there for its up to the lady when she wants it modded. I too have owned every yamaha sport quad there is, minus the blaster.

But anyway, I just posted what I experienced on the two (660 and 700) thus far. There WILL be more to report.

IMO carbs ALWAYS have more snap right off idle, properly tuned anyway. With a crab you have direct linkage. The exact mila-second you snap the throttle, the slide is opening up. That is not the way of fi. The computer has to think about it still and take calculations. FI, in my experience on street bikes have proven them selves quit well. I love it. But ALL the carbed bikes I have owned have had more snap off idle then a FI bike. FI is smoother. Carbs are "NOW". Especially nice expensive carbs, like a keihin FCR with accel pump and all.
I guess you could look at it in a "non-relative way" and compare your fi to that of a carb you find on a warrior! Thats not what I am getting at though!!
If you look at pretty much all the big time race cars, they are all carbed still. Especially drag cars! I suspect that any several other reasons is why!
Hope I explained myself clearly enough

I sure as hell hope that wasn't aimed at me there maddog As I can find nothing cocky in what I posted.
