Need help shifting a Raptor

Just when you think you have seen it all someone opens a post like this.
I think it is a farse I doubt this guy has a Raptor. I mean how could he get it off of the lot if he can't even shift?
Good luck buddy and you might want to start out with a 10 speed huffy to get the grasp of shifting.

automan heres what ya do pull clutch in step down on gear shifter then put the throttle to the bar and dump the clutch then.......pick yourself up and go look for your quad.

dont forget when you want to stop pullin the clutch and coast to a stop then put it back in first and start again

Take a safety class(rider training course)...its there for you and yamaha will even pay you to do so....1-800-887-2887!

First of all for knowing what gear you are in, it's all by ear and speed .You gotta get used to the gearing of your quad and know about how fast each gear goes at what throttle(1/2 throttle in 3rd 25-30, I'm guessing people so don't get on my @ss). I do however think that when you shift into first on the raptor you can feel it go into 1st more than the other gears(it feels like the clutch wasn't pulled in all the way). Going up and down hills is a matter of preference. Are you Nick from down the road or J. Mcgrath? I try to keep my Raptor in 2-4th on hills depending on the incline. The higher gears tend to stall if your not punched or going fast enough. The lower gears tend to pull the front end up going up hills. You got to find the happy medium. Also, if there is a problem with over-gasing(rarely the case) there is a rev-limiter on the thumb-throttle and you just screw it in. Good luck automan..

Pretty good Thanks for all the help guys. I am shifting like a pro. lol But seriously thanks for all the help it was greatly appriciated and I am shifting good now.
