IT WILL START AND RUN FOR ABOUT A MINUTE THEN START POPING AND DIE. WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE?

WHY DO YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS!?

also, it may be dirt in the carb, your choke may be on, your jetting may be off, it may be running out of gas

The popping is usally a sure sign of lean. Jets could be plugged, fuel filter plugged, running out of gas...or even old stale gas.

if i were you, flush the gas tank and put FRESH 87/89 octane gas into it, get a fuel filter( replace the one you got if u have one), make sure gas is actually getting to the carb. if you need furthur help you may want to take it to the stealership. and a 383 big bore is a very OFF bore.. that must be like .015 over?

Once the gas cap breather vent got plugged up on the Prairie 400 I had, and it did the same thing. Try loosening the gas cap a little bit so some air can get in. If fresh air can't get into the tank, then the gas can't get back out and it'll act like it's jetted too lean.
