Thats just what I was thinking. If you're trail riding in the woods, you won't even be in fourth gear, let alone fifth, and you'll never be able to hit 90 mph no matter what the quads top speed is. We don't even hit those speeds in desert racing. In our last race I used fifth gear twice, and was only tapped out in fifth gear one time. Its tough to use those speeds on a rough sand course, and its even tougher in the woods.

And for what its worth, we own both, and a stock geared Banshee with its six speed transmission does have a slightly higher top speed than a stock geared YFZ. I would think it could hit 80 mph with a pipe and correct jetting that lets it really wind out the motor, but 90+ mph is a bit optimistic if you ask me.

testing top speed on your quad with a car next to you is really not accurate. If you want to know how fast your quad is goin... get a speedo for it. trailtech has a nice one. I got the endurance guage on my 350. it's a little slow, my actual wheel circumfrance was 1675.8xx or somethin like that... i put in 1676. So it's just a public hair slow and winding out in 6th on the street i got 69! WHOO!

i have a highly modded raptor with 22 inch tires and higher geared sprockets. i can do around 105 acording to the eclipse next to me

 

I am the one with the YFZ480 and it did not have stock gearing it was geared up one tooth. 15 tooth front sprocket. Also it would only go 82 mph topped out. 660RRyder is full of crap. Jamie Mace

I tested a 409 big bore banshee that hardly had one stock part on it. It did well over 90, but look out when stopping on gravel at 100 mph. It slid for ever.

 

Also, don't know the tire diameter when spinning over 90 mph but I'm sure they grew alot.
