if it was me i would purchase a raptor and order a lowering kit and wheel spacers. the raptor is faster all the way around then a z400 but from factory the z400 handles much better.

well what i was sayin about the lowerin kit, i went with a crj non adjustable kit. with a raptor you cant get an adjustable rear lowerin strut. look at my pics my raptor runs a crj lowerin kit and durablue wheel spacers. it handles so much better in the air and on the ground.

id go for the z400. remember to check into the corroding thing if its a 05/06 model Z (do a search).

raptors(660) have alot of torque but i'm just not crazy about how they handle.

as far as the new quadracer 450, its a ripper, allright....however, unless your trails are wider than the 50" bike, it will not be fun to ride trails or tight areas with. it just wasnt desinged for it. could you adapt it- sure you could spend $$$ to do about anything...but why? buy a bike that is better suited for your type of riding and put that money in the bank or throw it into modding the Z if you want more out of it later. you can make big changes in a z400's performance with a pipe, carb, cams, air filtration mods, etc. you get even more when you get it ported, and with the 434/440/450/470 kits from various perfomance centers. it will downright scream then. i think that you'd be happy with it stock for awhile, though...

i think the z400 is the best bang for the buck right now for features, performance, reliability and price. unless you want to shell out $7k on a new raptor 700R. i like it, but id wait for the 2007 model on that one.

the 660 is definately the way to go. THe 400 is not very reliable. I have found that from expirience. The raptor is much more low maintainance than the 400.

how can you say the 400 not realiable, they are very realiable. there are tons of aftermarket parts! suspention is great! i like raptors to but the only thing i dont like about a raptor is they feel a little tipsy on the trails, some people say they cant tell it others can. if i was u i'd try and ride both before you decide.03 400 frame weak they make gusset kits,01 rap. bad tranny.both are really great bike.really cant go wrong with either. good luck.
