My buddy has the stock Dunflats on his Grizz, and he gets stuck in wet grass. That thing is nothing short of miserable in the mud.

I agree about the Dunflats. They make condoms that are more puncture resistant. I only have 500 miles and the back tires are trashed !
I feel with some real tires the Grizz should do better in the mud.
So what should it be - (6ply)Blackwater XT's or (4ply) Titan 589's?
I am still leaning toward the XT's.

It's not that I don't think they are a good tire. As for all around use they are good but I think the 589's are also a good all around tire but have alittle more aggressive tread design for mud situations. Either choice is good.

The 589 are awfully agressive for all around riding. The XTs are a good choice but i have heard many mixed reviews on them. They seem to be a love it or hate it tire. The Maxis Mud Bugs seem to be a good tire for what you mention also. They also tend to be lighter then the outhers. I have heard good things about the Mud Sharks as long as you are not in the super gooooooop.

mark3,
I have the 27" 589's on my Grizzly and love them! I put them on the stock rims and they fit just great. No lift required at all, lots of room. Looks like there would be enough room for 28" without a lift. They are a good tire for everything that I have ever ridden in, including deep mud. The stock tires really did suck! Poor traction, and very thin construction.

I like the Bi-Tri set-up on my grizz. It does really well. The 27's Bi-Tri are almost 28's. I will say this though, my next set up will be outlaws. I rode with the folks of HL and have to admit that the outlaws did impress me.
