any problems with the 700 raptor?
I dont think there is a problem with the bike. I think the way Yamaha and the magazines originally advertised the bike as compensating for intake and exhaust mods was flat out wrong. An aftermarket programmer is required.
This is a great handling, torquey bike.

The idea that the bike "compensates" for a change in airflow without adjusting the EFI is wrong. However, the factory EFI is set to run rich enough to survive a significant increase in airflow without destroying the engine by burning too lean. This is not compensation and it is certainly not optimization, but I would imagine it is the source of the idea that new exhausts can be added without adjustments to the EFI. Don't know for sure. I'm no expert.
