Default Question - does your dealer

does your dealer charge over retail (MSRP) for parts - i would guess there's nothing against the law in doing so? after all the factory says MSRP! - i got a good deal on my Kodiak from my dealer - they said they would give me a 20% discount in the parts dept. - so i paid for & ordered some fender flairs and a front brush guard - the stuff had to be ordered but i went ahead & paid for the stuff in cash - tonight i was thinking about my bill - i went to the yamaha site & yep - they gave me 20% off alright but they marked the parts up 20 to 25% over retail - i just sent a love letter to the sales manager - will be interesting what they have to say about it - were not talking the end of the earth here guys but it's 25 bucks or so - i think i would like that money in my *** pocket instead of the dealers - these guys do this crap all the time & get away with it & they wonder why we call them stealers - i promise you if they don't refund the money i will go to small claims court & let a judge make the call & then they can also pay the court cost when i win - i'll keep you posted - maybe it was just an honest mistake

obvious you need to check your own statement.. MSRP ... Manufactorer SUGGESTED Retail Price... it's only a SUGGESTION to what the delaerships should sel lthem at. the 20% is usually what they add on to each part.

That's why I get my parts and work done at the local powersports shop, not a dealer. They sell me yamaha parts for less than MSRP, because they order from several different distributors, and look around for the best deals. I would have spent $70 more if I ordered my starter clutch from a yami dealer.

sorry speedy - your post doesn't make since - in my 50 years of buying parts from dealers - this is the 1st time i have had a dealer mark up his parts 20% "OVER" retail - when someone tells you that you will get 20% off of retail & we are standing there looking at the Yamaha catalog with the retail prices listed - wouldn't you assume that you will get 20% off that price - he did't say - there's retail - we will mark it up 20% & then give you a 20% discount - maybe i'm missing something - BTW - their web page has the parts listed for sale at MSRP -

I dunno for sure, but I know when I hear MSRP, I expect the price to be cheaper then that. Everything I have ever looked at to buy and was listed at MSRP and the price came down from there. Not up.

Hello Tom,

Thank you for your request. I checked into the accessory pricing and it
appears there was a system pricing error. You will receive a refund in
the mail.

Regards,
Peter
