More mileage alternatives for a shee
#1
OK.
I went riding today, and as usual, I had to switch to reserve way before everyone, and most of all, before dark (aaargh).
I was wondering about ways to improve mileage on my shee. 2 stuff came in mind. The rear rack and a 1 gallon, or 6 gallon tank.
The rack.
Is it tough?, won't I rip it off on an optimistic wheelie? won't it change the balance too much?
The tank.
Does it fit right (I'm talking about the aluminium tanks advertised in page 161 of november dirtwheels)? Does it still look sharp? Isn't it too big (hitting with knees or genetical treasures -ouch-)? Will the handlebar hit it when turning at max?
Knowing the prices (80$ the rack and 300$ -ouch- for the tank), what do you think would be better? I mostly ride trails and am scared of ripping of the rack (if I have to change after 5 rides...better take the tank).
So if anyone uses any of these, please tell me how they work..
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

I have an IMS tank, its 5.6 gallons, its a lifesaver for those long races/trail rides. You have to cut your front plastic (enough to where you can't use it with the stock tank) it does throw the balance off a bit till your used to it, it won't hit the bars when fully turned and it isnt that much different than stock in terms of hittin your most prized possesions, at least I have'nt had a problem yet!

Yeah, you're right...gas mileage isn't the right word...but I don't know the english word for "autonomie"...that is the biggest distance (or longest time) you can ride when the tank is full. I know I could ride much longer if I rode slowly...but you said it, a banshee isn't done for that...so the only thing I can do is have more fuel (so I can ride longer).
I think I found the word. Range. Isn't that it?

I improved my banshees gas "range" by parking it and buying a DS650 and I really love it.granted its not a shee, but I dont have near as much to deal with and dont have to worry about fuel.so the banshee is probably going to collect dust for a while.P.S.this is not your cheapest alternative by far.I would say a 6pack rack is the cheapest way out or just stay close to your truck.

I know the DS has a better range, but I don't want to change my shee. I'm starting to have it modified enough to make it really enjoyable, I would have to start all over with a new machine. It would cost me 4000$can if I sell my shee 4500 (DS 2001 are for sale 8500$can)...a bit more than an 80$ rack...hehe.
Honestly, I'd rather wait for all brands to come out with a nice sports machine. I want a DS styling and engine, Craptor reverse, nimbleness and weight, and Banshee fun and heigth..is that possible?
Not yet. I'll keep upgrading my shee.
