Default play in handlebars

Hi
My handlebars have a lot of play in them before they actually turn the wheels...the steering stem moves but the wheels don't right away...does this mean i need new a-arm bushings? is this hard to fix or would i have to go to a shop? i have the shop manual for it
Thanks in advance

My Raptor does that, and I havnt really messed with it. But I would like to know what causes this as well.

Default play in handlebars

There's a number of things that could cause it, you just need to go over all the moving parts in your front end and check for free play. Look over the steering stem bushings and bearings, tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, and anything else connected to the steering stem that I forgot. It's nothing that you would need to take it to a shop for, my guess is that you just need to replace the steering stem bearing on the bottom.
