Ive drag raced my neighbor (04 Z400 pipe, jets, and filter) i gave him a half a bike length to start and i beat him in the quarter mile on gravel 7 of 7 races (by about 2 lengths each time) . A piped pred will beat me by about 3 or 4 lengths. A piped raptor i can beat by a length. Of course these are all piped machines but that should give a reference for ya run into em an they wana race. I have always heard the raptor and pred were pretty even mod for mod. My piped raptor runs right beside a piped predator, so how do you lose 3 to 4 legnths to a pred, and beat a raptor by a legnth? I am not trying to start a big debate between the pred and raptor again, but that just doesn't make sence to me. Is it just circumstantial of how the conditions are? Like one has bald tires, beginner rider, poor jetting...or what?

 

My brothers raptor is stock and it woops my buddies z and the z is piped and jeted and has a diff sprocket.

 

to compete with a stock ds650 ur gonna need a pipe/filter/proper jetting, and it will be a close race, but vs lightly modded DS like mine, ur gonna need cams and a piston to outrun it in 300 feet

 

Well its no 660 nor will it out run one but i think the z400 is not overated it is a awesome quad fast good low end stable comfy i love them i think anyone who buys one will be happy plus they respond to upgrades very well.But anyways you will not out run everyone all the time with it but you will see that it has great power for hill climbing etc; just get it,it is worth the money.

 

i think ith your chosen mods you stand a chance of a win/draw. it wil cme down to who is best at changinging and who gets best traction off the line. however i don't think you will take a pred [ i think LE] off the line as they come modded. but i aint sure, buy one and race them..................
