If you are buying new i would get the trx250 because of the sportclutch. Honda also makes great atvs. Other than that i would get the z250 its the fastest and one of the easiest ones to ride. If youy are a little more experienced i would get a blaster. They can be made very fast, but you will have to do deal with a 2 stroke which is nal always fun

Go with the 250ex, it's a perfect starter quad, it's definitely the most reliable out of those, it's one of the most reliable quads ever made because honda is awesome when it comes to designing small engines. And with the sport clutch you can get used to riding a manual clutch so if/when you trade it in for a bigger one in a few years you can already shift it good. It's also faster than all those you listed except for the blaster, and the blaster involves quite a bit more maintainance, and has poor suspension.

I hope this doesnt come off biased but here it goes. Blasters are arguebly one of the best quads to start out on learning. You can keep them stock which they are still real quick and then when you get used to riding you can buy upgrades of which there are 1000s made for blasters. Blasters can be easly made faster than 250exs and with proper caring for will last just as long as a honda. It also depends on what your looking for its the old story of 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke which is better? no one knows all comes down to rider preference. But dont limit your self to just one bike check out blasters i love them and many people would agree with me.

Blasterider,
I believe you said the key point, they "can" be made faster than a 250 ex. Sure they can, but you can add hop-ups to a 250ex to make it faster as well. If you want to start adding accessories, just buy a bigger quad. imo
It's not worth the time, effort, or money....I think the Honda brand has the best reputation for reliability. The new trx250ex has a sport-clutch system that allows a beginning rider to learn the basic fundemetals of riding, shifting, etc. Don't get me wroong, I love Yamaha's....heck I own one, but I think a trx250ex is superior to any in its class.

I have recently riden a new trx250 and the sport clutch is amazing im not going to lie about that but shifting itself is not hard to learn. I masterede it on my blaster in a hour of riding it around my house. If you really think you dont want to take any chances with manual shift go with the honda they are known as bullet proof and you could beat it up and it will still start the next morning. Blaster s do require a little more maintenance and caring for but it depends on how you feel. Follow your gut feeling thats what i did and i am not disappionted.
