686 big bore kit?
#2
You're going to have to be more specific. To make your bike a 686 all you need is a new piston and the gaskets to put the engine back together. A simple bore and hone and you're all set.
Now if you want some real power out of it you can spend a lot more money. New cam, valves, valve springs, carbs, intake, filters, exhaust, porting, etc. Craycraft, kenz, and other builders have 686 "kits" that will change out a few of these parts as a baseline and you can go from there. You can buy 686 "kits" on ebay that include just the piston and gaskets or piston/gaskets/camshaft/springs.
For reliability's sake I'd suggest making sure you have a stronger connecting rod and the 02 trans update. You'll need to regear to get the most out of the power and a new swingarm and possibly tires will help you get the power to ground more efficiently.

alright well thanks for the info i guess i didnt look into it as much as i should have. i already have a decent set of tires that im real happy with right now. and when u say regear what is it that u mean. like the front and rear sprocket? if so i have that geared down already. i can prolly do more with it but for the kind of riding i do the set up that is on it now seems to work just fine for me.

I just went to my local Yamaha shop and then walked up to the parts guy and then asked him to order everything i wrote down from the parts catalog and then got some sugestions.
