Water in raptor Headlights. Normal?
#3
Raptzor,it could be condensation build up.i bought a DS a week ago and when i hauled it home on trailer the headlight had a little moisture build up in it. i started the bike and turned on the headlight and the moisture finally disappeared.i think its just not a good seal on the light is why this happens.disasemble your light and with your finger run a real thin layer of clear silicon around the seals.this should stop the moisture.i had the same thing happen on the stater case of my banshee.it got to where if you turned a certain way it would cut out and what it was the case didnt have a good seal and it was drawing moisture.after i put silicon on the case seal ive had no problem and this has been about 6 months ago.hope i could help, good luck.

Hey Chop,
If you pull your headlight on the DS you'll find a hole about a half inch in diameter,to the side of where the electrical connections come in - why it's there I don't know, maybe ventilation, but every time I pressure washed my bike I got moisture in it. I put a plug in it 6 mos ago - no more moisture -no adverse affects.

Mine had moisture in it the first time i washed it and i didn't even use full power on my garden hose! I guess this may be normal cause it happens on my buddies 400ex also. I will run some silicone around it because i just don't like it when it happens.

Yes they do get moist in there, take it from me.
I had it under water. Only a little bit got in the right one, but it caused condensation. Remove your lights and pull the black housings apart. Apply dielectric grease to the bulb socket, and make sure you clean the halogen bulb glass clean with contact cleaner, to remove residue from your hand. Apply grease to the rubber headlight boot.
this will create a gasket/moisure barrier. that should doi it. do the tailight as well. Enjoy
