emergency carb help

I was raising the needles today on my raptor and a tiny spring came out and went south.it is unavailable at this time from yamaha and carb parts wherehouse does not carry parts for these carbs.i have read about people using ink pen springs to fix same problem, any ideas?never had this sort of problem on my ex or 310r.your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
If the carb is similar to the ones used on other Yamaha four strokes, that was the accelerator pump spring.A pen spring is an exact replacement, and works a lot better than the flimsy one that was in there.The stock ones have a tendency to jam down,giving you a bog on the bottom end. I replaced mine, and have had zero problems since.

95 wolverine, 98 recon for my son.
