450 cam turned back! Awesome!
Got my cam mod done and it runs awesome. I havn't ran it against any of my riding buddies yet, but, I think its making a very noticeable power gain throughout the power range. I was worried that it would rob too much bottom end. NOPE! Easy way too pick up some ponies. Just letting someone who has been thinking about it know the results I've had.

dude, 2HP isnt bad for basically a free mod. there have been several articles on doing this yourself.
so it doesnt rob anything on the bottom? does it give anything on the bottom? b/c from what ive heard it makes it more zingy in the mid-upper rpm range. but hey, 2hp is 2hp. Korry ellis said it is a must if you have the kick starter on it...

Just got a lot of rain and didn't want to rut up my track, but, I rode it on some setaside(grass field) and it pulled through the power very smoothly compared to the way it was. I weigh 250 and the rpm's used to slow just a little when coming out of a corner hard without flaring the clutch. It didn't today. I have a 172 main and dropped the clip down 1 and no lid on airbox. I also have a full baldwin exaust with a twin air filter. Maybe it helped the jetting become more spot on. All I know is that it does run noticably better throughout the entire powerband. I never thought my 450 had very much bottom to begin with. My 440 had tractor like bottom but everywhere else wasn't even close. Thought about getting a new cdi but I dont know if it would be worth it.

I took the 450 in to have the valves checked and had them do it why it was in the shop. $51 total bill. I had already rejetted for the airbox lid and pipe. Have't rode it much since, but, It does run better. Will know more after this weekend. All they do is move the cam gear back one tooth on the timing chain(pretty sure).
