Default pull starting a grizz 660 (do i need a winch)

my buddy has an 06 grizz 660 he told me he could not pull start it,being a smaller person than I,
I jumped in and gave it my all to show him up (Im 6'3' 230lbs) well I nearly pull my shoulder out
and could not get it to turn over once, called the dealer and asked what was wrong with it and they informed us
that this was normal???? are they all like this or is something wrong?
what good is it if you cant even get the motor to spin once!

I helped my bro-in-law pull start his '04 Grizz one time after his battery went dead. It was a B!T@H but we got it started. It took me a couple of times and him a couple of times but we got it going. (He's 6'4" 220lbs, I'm 6'2" 260lbs) It turned over VERY hard. We had to literally stand on the footboards and use our arms and our legs while pulling up. In short, it sucked.

lol

you guys can't just go jerking on the rope, you'll rip your sack

you gotta let the compression release work, pull it slow! You gotta let the piston release it's pressure then the rope will get easy for a second then thump back to hard then slowly it'll get easy again...a couple thumps and it'll start.

You guys are trying to brute strength it and working against yourselfs, a girl would probably be a better pull starter than you all cause she'll pull it slow and easy. The Grizz has too big of a piston to just rip it thru the cycle.

All the bigger yamaha cvt quads can be bump started. Next time you might find it easier to start by pulling it with another quad
Just hook up a tow strap, turn the key to on, put the grizz in high(and if traction is limited, 4wd), have the other quad pull the grizz to about 7mph, and it should be running before you get 10 feet.
