HELP! 450 Wolverine water problems!
#1
When I wash my 06 Wolverine, it will not start again for hours. It acts like it is flodded. The 1st time it happened I cleaned the air filter. It still took awhile to get it going (running the starter too long).
Now I have a pattern, Every time I wash the bike, if I spray water to the left side of the engine. The bike will not start without MUCH effort from the starter. I am worried that a water crossing will strand me out in the middle of nowhere. I think I will contact the dealer. Do any of you have this problem? Is there an easy fix?

You should be able to handle this one yourself.
Youve got it narrowed down to the left side. Are you using a pressure washer..or garden hose?
Heres something to try,,,have it idleing, and just using a spray bottle of water, start squriting the different connections on the left side. If you find the bad one, and even if you dont...take apart the connections, and dry them completely. Then add some dielectric grease to s each side of the connection, and put them back together.
Dot forget to put some of that on the spark plug and plug boot.
That should waterproof all the electics.

I have just been too busy lately to dig into it. I just use a garden hose and I don't want it to die again before I found the problem. I am going to take it in today (on the way for a weekend at the beach). The dealer said they will hunt it down. It might be there all week though. I'll let you know.

Ok, I have it back. 1st they called me and could not get it to flood like would happen to me. I said I will be there soon to do it. I could not get it to flood either! Their hose had lousy pressure, but it should have flooded! They did not charge anything and said to take it back when it happens again. It will suck to load it on the truck without it running.

I HAVE HAD THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH MY WOLVERINE. THERE IS A HOSE THAT COMES OFF OF THE CARB AND RUNS UP UNDER THE GAS TANK. IF YOU TAKE YOUR TANK OFF YOU WILL SEE A 1/4" BLACK RUBBER VENT HOSE THAT LAYS ON THE RUBBER MAT UNDER YOUR TANK. WATER IS ALLOWED TO BUILD UP THERE AND IN TURN YOUR CARB SUCKS THE WATER IN. THE BEST SOLUTION I COULD COME UP WITH WAS TO REROUTE THE HOSE TO THE AIRBOX LID. THIS SHOULD SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS BUT YOU PROBABLY SHOULD FLUSH YOUR CARB BECAUSE IT ALSO TAKES IN DIRT.
