Vem, The smell you are getting is normal for a brand new quad. It will go away after you ride it a few times. Actually, you get pretty much the same smell after installing a new exhaust or repacking the current exhaust, no biggie. Did you check the fuel petcock? It is kind of hidden up under the plastics on the YFZ, make sure it is turned on. These days, manufacturers have to sell product jetted a little lean to meet emissions, yours may be leaner than normal on the pilot and/or mix screw and is certainly worth checking out if it won't idle or run properly. Lastly, it is normal with the stainless header for it to glow somewhat. I also have had my YFZ jetted very rich down low and the header would still have a little glow if I let it idle for a while.

If the motor is a little lean it will run hot at times and boil over. If it is real lean you will burn valves and pistons. However I do believe Yamaha jets all their quad for 0-1500 ft above sea level. Take the quad out and ride it a few minuets and then take a look at the plug, if its snow white then your running lean.

Sorry to say but I felt off the bike doing a wheelie by pressing on the back brakes too hard. It resulted with me having a broken ankle. Now I have to wait till Thrusday to get surgery.

I didnt even got to put 10 mins of riddin. I should of wait till I felt comfatable to start doingf tricks.

But what a big difference going from a blaster to 450.

iv hears of dealer scams like this before, what the do is say you buy a quad they will load up a cheap modle or not the right one and send it to in the middle of the night or when you're not home and once you see it you tell the guy delivering that its not the right one and he says ok but i need you to sign this paper saying i came here and showed up. then you sign the paper and you are stuck with the quad.

Huh? He got the right quad, and it was delivered when he WSN'T home. Just someone at the dealership skipped out on the PDI since it doesn't run right.

Vem, sorry to hear about your ankle. Just do yourself a favor and let it heal before abusing it again, or else you may compound your problems later in life.
