Drag racing, whats the big deal
even us "serious" drag racers that travel the country can gripe from time to time. There is a lot of politics in racing and when the complaining starts its usually because a guy got beat that shouldnt have been beat. Now when you have 15-30k in a drag bike ego's are high as well as expectations. Id love to see how well you can do on a drag bike (no not 4-stroke) that runs in the 3's. Its not as easy as people think when that bike is pulling as hard as it is and you are listening to the motor, body position, and taking into account how the bike runs at which parts of the track. There really is a lot going on during that 3 second race and its what defines a good racer.
btw, my best time is a 3.52 @93mph. My 60' was a 1.23.
as far as building a bike is concerned. A drag bike wont go anywhere unless you know your in's and out's of a drag bike. There is no crew cheif, so how you tune and wrench on your bike is directionally related to how well it does on the track. You are wrong, wrenching, building, and tuning, are just as important as anything else

It's the weekend warriors that know it all and have never paid a cent to a sanctioning body and race in field downthe road that talk all the trash, and no it does not take much skill at all to line up with your buddies and count to 3 and pin the throttle. Thats who I am refering to. So thats my fault for not being very clear on that point.

If you're going to start a thread like this, at least stand by what you said and don't try to duck out.

Not everyone can holeshot in a MX race, it is a skill none the less. There is a skill to it, but I don't think anyone said there is more skill in drags.

but in no way do I think I could have run a moto gp race on, I had nowhere near enough skill to do that. My point is it is alot easier to drag race than most other forms of racing. Not saying any shmoe will come in and take a top spot first thing, but he would do better on a drag strip in 1 day than he would on a MX track in one day.

that is a kind of given i would think. I could road race, desert race, or put my bike on an asphalt track, but that doesnt mean ill be any good at it. Your reasoning is kind of irrelivant because ANYBODY can do any type or racing. Their skill level at doing it though is what makes them good. And remember its always a drag racer to the first corner
example. my first time on a gp bike on a course, would you consider me a gp racer? no. just like i wouldnt consider a guy on his raptor with a K&N and a dynojet kit with a 148/150 main and 25 pilots a drag racer.
