hya, right ive just got a 12 tooth front sprocket and when i fitted it i didn't adjust the chain (tightening it)anyway i took it round field and the chain was jumping, like the sprocket was slipping. anyway i realised that it was because it was too long so i stupidly split the chain, and thought i would shorten it, as i was unsuccessful in trying to adjust the rear hub. anyway, my brother came and pointed out the secong bolt i had to losen lol.by this time though the chain had been split. i was left with two male ends and i patched it with a trials bike split link [had to grind the links a little though]. i fitted it all back together and took it for a spin. works perfectly, no complaints. do you think it will hold? i think it should do because there is no new link there, jsut the pin so should be just as strong or almost. do you think it will hold up then? cheers

 

Here's my Honest Opinion............

Just remember what your asking. Your on the trail and it comes apart and you have NO WAY to fix what has broken.

its not nice having a broken crankcase or sidecover....

Bunny up and buy a new chain with the right master link.

 

even if its a ebay non o ring 20 dollor special i would defentaly get a new chain. Also when doing repairs make sure to get some help. Or atleast download a service manual for free.
