Default Suzuki 450, YFZ450 or Raptor 700?

Still no posts on how these three compare, draging that is...

I'm in the market for a new bike and can't decide between these 3. YFZ has proven HP but it's not comfortable. The raptor feels great but it's traditionally not a contender. The unkwown is the suzuki. I haven't sat on one yet and can it hang with the YFZ (cherry bomb and pipe of course)?

Next weekend I have set up a match with a piped 2003 YFZ450, 06 piped Banshee (mine) and a stock Raptor 700 and maybe a 04 piped Preditor. We will all switch off to make sure rider skill isn't a factor. I am hoping that the Raptor kicks because that is the bike I am leaning towards.

If the Suzuki feels good and can hang with the YZF that will may be the route.

Opinions???

if your going to just drag, stay with the shee. you'll spend twice as much on the 4 stroke as you do hoping up the shee. i have more in my kfx than me shee ,the shee will smoke it!!!!. but for your ?, i'd go yfz, get a aftermarket seat(more padding). suz.450 is strong !! but its geared more for mx,not as many hop ups out either. yfz strong as hell and alot of hope ups. the 2 bikes are pretty close,450 not much bottom end,yfz shoots out of the hole.

Please read Disclaimer at end

Have never ridden with a suzuki 450 so have no comments on it.

I do ride with a 06 YFZ 450 and a 04 Predator

700 stock and the predator slightly modded=700 win

700 stock and the YFZ 450 stock = 700 win

700 stock and yfz 450 with full HMF and GYTR filter = 450 winning about 60% of time

700 modded (see below) and other 2 in condition listed above = will have to wait till tomorrow havent ran them yet with mods

DISCLAIMER: These were my results against 2 guys on 2 quads your results may vary

If you want to get a new quad and you want to drag race get a 450R. That has got more poewr and top speed than the ones you listed.

Nice bike! Looks like you have it set up right.

I'm hoping the Raptor takes care of business next weekend. I will let you know.

I'm sureprise too. I did have the opportunity to pound a 450R at the dunes and was never able to get out of 2nd gear. It did ok but was not a contender. Great suspension and feel (geometery)

In a drag race, the 700 will be on top. Ive raced 450s before and always win. Ive tied a couple times, but never been beaten.

Yeah the 700 is the heaviest, but it has a tremendous torque advantage.

Stock for stock, or intake\exhaust\programmer(jetting in YFZ case) and I vote for the 700.

I've seen my friend beat plenty of piped yfz's with his' 450 suzuki. All he's done is removed the air box lid and silencer baffle. He's also added the cherry bomb.It really woke it up.To me,the suzuki is a great choice.I do like the YFZ's though.

Today at our local 1/8th mile track(not leaving at wot because the track officials hate wheelies),he run a 9.10.I thought that was impressive.

Taking up for the yamaha banshee owners. My friend Michael run a 8.26 and I run a 7.38(expecting 6's soon).
TRUST ME,THEY'RE STOCK.LOL!!!!

I fair pretty well against highly modded 450's on am MX track. With only intake, exhaust , and TFI i can get the hole shot or be at the top 3 every time. I have so much more low end than the 450's. I would probably have bought a 450 if i new i was going to do this much racing. All in all i think the 700 is faster in a drag but is at a slight disadvantage at a track.
