easy question on a Raptor...
#1
Hello,
I'm finishing up with the long tedious project of the repair and replacement of my rear axle and all the was damaged due to the bearing wearing out and shredding up on my 2001 Raptor 660.
My question is what is a good front and rear sprocket setup for trail riding? I've never changed the sprockets before and forget what the previous owner of the bike put in the rear but I believe it was smaller than the stock 40 sprocket since a 40 doesn't fit with the "PRM" swingarm plate that I have but I heard I could just use washers as spacers to fix that clearance problem.
thanks in advance....

Thanks for the advice Caliraptor. One more question for you if you could sir. I'm stuck with trying to install the sprocket hub, it's not fitting right and rubs up against the housing carrier of the axle swing arm. This is a used hub I got from ebay off a 2004 so I thought I was just sent the wrong part from another model. I picked up another sprocket hub off a 2002 Raptor and it looks the same! So that makes me think that I have the correct hub but something is either missing like a spacer in between the hub and housing or somethong must be wrong. What do you think? All sprocket hubs from 2001 - 2004 should be the same right?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

You will feel like the raptor has more power but you will go through the gears quicker. You might lose 3-5mph on the top end but it will be easier to ride through tight trails. Not sure on the hub, take a look at a microfiche at your dealer or an online repair manual. Some guys here have posted links to a free online repair/service manuals, just do a search. Goodluck
