Yes, yet another $80 piece that can "help" the problem. Should have been a recall or something. I've seen people crash because of it. Hit the throttle to hop down in a creek and it died, endoing on top of him 7' down in the creek.

I will pick it up tomorrow and I will let you know. They said they found aluminum shavings in my carb, so they cleaned it up and reassembled it. They turned up the idle to 1700 rpm’s and adjusted the mixture so it wasn’t running so rich. They also had to replace the plug; it was pretty black I guess. (The machine is only 3 months old.) After telling me all this, he then gave me the speech that the YFZ450 is designed to be a top end race machine and it wasn’t intended to be responsive at low speeds. Judging by this statement I have a feeling they didn’t fix the problem. As I said it a previous post, I ride with a wide variety of machines and none of them have a problem trying to jump something in their paths. ya if you just come out of a idle like to come up to a jump at a slow speed and just catch a wheelie off of it there will be a dead spot.

and the say to get the boysen large bowl that is supposed to make the dead spot much smaller. I think it is just a part of the carb being so big and letting too much fuel in at once, flooding the quad basically for just a second.

I think you just have to work around it a lil.

Coming off my z400 it was quite a struggle for me at first, but after a couple weeks ( about 12 hours of riding) I was a lot better.

Yes, we have to deal with it for now. I still havn't seen anyone in the know help out here. Thats too bad. Every yfz 450 that I have ridden with has this very same problem. Has anyone cured this disease without buying a new carb? If someone knows, your input could help countless yfz owners. Anyone tried the boysen bowl?
