Default 03 Raptor 660le carb issue

Hi all, I have taken my carbs out and thoroughly cleaned them after it plugged up and started peeing out the bowl. At that point, I emptied the tank and replaced it with fresh 93 Mobil gas. It seemed to run fine and then it sat again for almost a week and it plugged up again. This time I had the Yamaha dealer do it. Ran great until about a week and now it's plugged again. My guess is that they are probably adding ethanol at that Mobil station and I should drain the tank and clean them again. Any thoughts? Do I have to yank the carbs out each time or is there a trick I don't know about? Thank you

im pritty shure that the ethanol isnt the problem cuz pritty much every gas station has 10% ethanol and 0% Methanol in the gas.. it says it right on the pump... and its ok to run ethanol as long as it doesnt excede 10% .... have u cleaned your air box, air filter, ect. latly... sounds like your pumpin more dirt then air into your carb

Dont forget to clean out the tank. Maybe thats why the carbs keep getting plugged up.

I did recently put in a new K&N but haven't really got to use it. Airbox has been cleaned out and wasn't that dirty to begin with. I haven't taken it to a dusty dune or anything in a while. I'll try taking the tank off and cleaning it out. Any other things to look at would be appreciated.

Do you see debris floating in your carb bowls? Or sediment in the bottom of the bowl?

If not then it's probably float adjustment. You have to keep adjusting Raptor floats for some reason or they leak out the overflows. Flip over the carbs and bend the tab that touches the needle until the floats are level.

shouldn't the dealer tech have noticed that recently? Personally I really don't feel like taking it back to them but you would think they would notice that.

Hi I am new to this site and need some help please. I have a 2002 raptor 660 and live in phoenix az. It runs really great here. But when I go up in the mountains is won't hardy run. The elevation here is around 1200' where I went is 5700'. I think it has to do with the jets but I am lost. It has after market exhaust and thats about it. Does anyone have any idea if it is the jets and what jet it might take. I am new to this and really could use some help.

the tech at the dealer is human and may not have checked the level of the float thinking it was just a dirty carb. you might try putting an in line filter in and see if it helps or if the filter clogs up.

You usually don't ever mess with float adjustments. Normally they don't change. Raptor floats tend to move up over time. I don't know why. Maybe bouncing? But, I have adjusted mine three times since it was new in 02. It keeps getting richer and richer until the overflows start leaking.

I haven't been impressed with any dealer techs that I have met so far. You get way better answers to Raptor problems on this forum than talking to the techs.

The altitude change will slow you down 20%. We ride in Flagstaff during the summer at 7000 feet. I don't bother rejetting. If its sputtering, then you need to lean out your main jets. You have to drop a couple sizes. It's trial and error. If its still running good but slow, just leave it alone cause its a pain to rejet.
