Correct way to use a wench ??
Hello,
I have Yamaha Kodiak 450 with a wench on the front. My queston is what is the correct way to use the wench. Should I get off of the 4-wheeler. Should I have the bike in gear and help it up the hell? I'm new at this 4-wheeler thing, and was stuck in a creak today, I had to wench my way to the top. Please help

All it takes is common sense in whatever predicament you get yourself in that requires the use of a winch. Sometimes you need to be on the wheeler to help control it, other times being on the quad would make more weight and cause a problem. Scan the area and vizualize what is going to happen, then make adjusments to your plan as you go. If you made it out of the creek, then you passed your first challenge. Each time its going to be a little different scenerio, so just be carefull and go with it.

The best way to learn how to use a winch is to actually use it. A couple of things that I think everyone should have for winching is a tree saver ( I got stuck and winched off a tree, my cable went about 6 inches into the wood. what a pain to get it out. ) and a ****** block to help maximize pulling power or winching from weird angles.
