Default Warrior metal shavings..

So i sold my warrior yesterday and the guy phones back today pissed off that he found metal shavings in the oil and oil filter. THe motor was rebuilt in jan 04. IS this normal to have metal shavings sitll in the oil? If he changed the oil filter and the oild do you think metal shavings will still come up?

Yes it is normal to have small amounts of metal in it. Now if it has alot that could be a problem.

How many hours did you have on the rebuild and was the oil ever changed in between the time of the rebuild and when you sold it?

Yes i changed it once and there were shavings. I cleaned out the filter but didn't replace it.

THe quad has probably 50 hours on it tops.

Theres your prob, you should only reuse a reusable filter. Never just clean it out... replace it... its like 4-5 bucks... not worth having to get a new trans over.

so if he replaces the oil and oil filter, you can't really see a problem from now on? I had it for 2 years and never had a problem.

Put good quality oil and good oil filter and change both 3-4 times a year and a garuntee he will not have a prob.

Its probably just the clutch plates wearing down, its a part of wear and tear. You didnt run car oil in it did you?
