I just bought a blaster for my daughter as she was bored with her polaris trail boss 250. Is there any way to tell what year it is from the serial number?

do a search on google for VIN finder or vehicle identification finder. Theres a few sites out there that will tell you.

call the dealer with the VIN, it's stamped into the frame just ahead of the shifter.

what's the 10th digit on the frame??

10th digit is a J. does that make it an 88? (thats how it works with cars)

My 88' lt250r's 10th digit is a J, but its a suzuki and I don't know if the yamaha's use the same system.

If the first 3 digits on the engine are 2XJ its a 1988 engine.According to the clymer manual
