RAPTOR 1/2 Throttle Power Come-on
#2
Bart,
I have a Raptor and an R1 too. Yamaha just makes machines that I want to ride!!! I find myself holding the throttle to the stop on my Raptor when ever I'm on a straight. Not because it's slow, just because it doesn't seem to rev all the way up otherwise. The midrange power is where the action is at with the raptor. It does have good top end but compared to an R1, there isn't much that accelerates that hard. I ride in the woods a lot and I am more than happy with the machine in that environment. I would like to make it wider before I worry about adding more power.

Sorry if the title didn't make any sense, but maybe this will...
I'm still in the process of burning my first tank of gas and have not had the Raptor over 1/2 throttle and was wondering if there is a big power come-on (if that's a word?) between 1/2 throttle and full throttle. I've read many times that the acceleration is 'scary' fast and although I'm pleased with the throttle response to 1/2 throttle, I wouldn't call it 'scary'. Maybe the acceleration of my 375 lb. / 150 hp. R1 has spoiled me?
Thanks, Bart
