Default tires?FOR 03' WOLVERINE

I'm interested in seeing what the actual size is for the new tires. A lot of the guys I ride with run Bighorns and those seem to run about an inch bigger than what's stamped on the sidewall.....25" tires are closer to 26"

My biggest concern with the big horns is the weight. with the listed weight a 21.4 and 27.1 that is just too much in my opinion for the 350 motor. They do provide great traction though. You can look at the GBC Dirt Tamers which have the same tread pattern in a non radial and the tires are only 20.5 & 24.2. I actually liked ITP new TerraCross radials but every one want about $100 per tire. The carlisle were only $75.

Default tires?FOR 03' WOLVERINE

Bad news today people. Went for a good long ride today in Malone NY all is good at first(I love riding this area cause of the great diversity in terrain) bout 3 hrs in we all stopped(bout our 4th stop), did a bit of goofin around got behind the Wolvy n noticed I had no air in 1 rear tire. Took a very close look only to find nothin in the tire. Put more air back in but went flat bout 2-3hrs later. now have to get a new 1.

K thought I'd share that with all of yous. But as for the question about how they slide, I find that they only slide when I want them to whether its gravel, dirt, sand, grass, or pavement. I do find that they are kinda heavy but they are 6ply after all. But by no means are they too heavy.

Its going flat because you could have problems like the bead not seated on the rim properly, or small hole (even though you've looked). What I do to find a leak is this- take an old spray bottle(windex bottle for ex.) and fill it with water, and put a tablespoon of dishsoap in the water then mix it up. Pump up the tire and spray the soapy water allover the tire, now the bubbles will appear where there is a leak. To repair, just buy a plug repair kit (any automotive store) and install a plug, then cut it off so its about 3/8" out of the tire.

I have had 25" dirt devils on my 98 wolvy for about 2 years, they are very durable tires. The bike is stock except for a slip on silencer, jet kit and k&n filter I didn't notice any power loss when I put them on but when mounted they only measure about 23 and 1/2 inches tall so they don't affect your gearing much. The tires bite good on hardpack and in the mud, huge difference in traction over the stock tires and they are 6 ply.

I agree. Find the leak before getting a new tire. If it was rocky where you ride, it may just be the bead. One of my buddy's had that happen on the last ride...but his tire went flat right away. He removed the wheel, used the butt end of the hatchet and was able to ride for a few more hours...airing up two or three times.

Found the problem, must have hit a tree branch just right, between rim n tire had some pieces stuck in there still. Just deep enough to leak slowly.

I run 25" maxis sur-traks on my stock rims on my 2000 wolverine. I also went with 1.5 inch billet wheel spacers and they made a world of difference in stability especially with going up a few inches in height. I have mine set up for mostly sport riding and It handles well. Cant help you with stock power but I can say that my FMF megamax and k&n filter made the biggest performance difference for me. I did do a wiseco High compression piston and a white brothers high lift cam but it was less noticeable. the cam did let me wind out further between gears which is nice. THere is no problem turning the tires whatsoever but I ride with mostly all sport quads so I want somthing with power always on tap. I highly reccomend those tires you dont need a big bore kit stock will turn them fine, pipe and filter will turn them better than fine. heres a few pics of mine

i put Swamp witches on mine, at 25" tire size i hardly noticed a difference in the speed , but did loose some low end torque, which was'nt all that bad. for about $50 a tire i thought it was a great deal, check it out on the link below.

Still no negative issues with the Mudlites I got a few years ago. They are on stock rims and I put slime in the tires late last year.
