starter problems 727cc raptor
#11
I must say that I have never heard of starter or flywheel problems on the raptor. I heard of flywheels spinning on the crank but never flywheel damage or even starter damage. One ways go out all the time.
I have heard of people with slow cranking on 727, but not damage. Something is messed up. You must have had debris in your crank case from exploded one ways. Maybe post a picture on your page?

I looked at your photos. There is no way your starter could create enough torque to shear those bolts. Something must have gotten wedged in the gears while you were running. It could have been debris from an old one-way. Check to make sure the plastic oil pump gear is not damaged as well.
Are the teeth on the gears chewed up? Look for a chunk of something planted in the teeth.
Go to Raptor tranny and post this issue there. You may get more help.

I looked at all gears and no gear chewed up, there are in a very good shape.
I think that one bolt are loosen and then it wedged the gears.
Its right it was happened while I was running.

I believe the root cause is something wedged in the flywheel gear. Probably a loose screw.
If it were me, I'd get new screws and put her back together. Flush out the crank case with oil as much as possible. Use one of those rods with a magnet on the end and fish it around everywhere you can reach to pick up debris. Get a magnetic crankcase drain plug too just in-case. The chunks will stick to the plug. Definately check the plastic oil pump gear, it is the first to go when there is debris. I think it may be on the other side of the motor. The Raptor will run a long time with no oil pressure. You won't know it until it seizes. Raptortranny.com has a section with instuctions on how to rebuild your starter if needed. Make sure you add locktite to all the screw threads.
Anybody else have sugesstions for this?
