Synthetic Rope ?
#1
I am going to replace my metal rope, had problems last year with the rope when using it for snow plow raising lowering. I ride alot in the winter and dont want to go with just a short piece incase I need it for other things.
Has anyone tried the synthetic rope for plowing? Do I have to change my new roller fair lead if I go with synthetic rope?

I bought a new 2.5c warn that has a steel cable. And at the same time i bought a synthetic rope kit as well. I took off the steel cable and wound the syn rope on. They suggest a new roller fair lead when you change to syn rope. a new roller fair lead came with the rope in the kit.

The self lubricating UHMW is the way to go. For only 30 bucks, you cant go wrong, just make sure to replace it with the original if you decide to go back to steel, since the steel cable will cut grooves into the plastic. With the synthetic rope and UHMW you will also cut down the weight of the winch which is also a good thing. Its something good to think about and a nessecity if you are going to be plowing with the bike...
