brake pads.. help needed
#1
I'm getting and have had a squeeky brake noise when brakes are applied. Still plenty of pad left. I've talked to fellow yamaha owners who said they had similiar problem, and said the best thing to do is replace pads with a good aftermarket set. Okay, now witch type of pads would be best, i've seen carbon / sintered / from different manf. If someone could guide me with this, it would be great. 1st timer atv here. I want good stopping power and no squeel. This is for Bruin 350 4x4 Thanks.

There's different pads for different types of riding. Sintered pads are designed for more abrasive conditions, like if you ride in mud a lot, or ride in a place that is prone to rain or water pooling up on the trail. I had a set of cheap Tusk carbon pads on the back of my warrior, and within 4-6 hours of riding at paragon with puddles, mud, and sand everywhere, and really only tapping on the brakes occasionally the pads were down to nothing and i was stopping with pure steel-on-steel contact. I'm getting ready to order a set of cheap sintered pads on ebay, and hopefully i'll have better luck and get a few rides out of a set.
The main benefit of carbon pads is the price, and they're a little quieter and smoother than sintered and severe duty pads, but, who really cares on a quad how quiet the brakes are? Sintered metal pads supposedly are a little harsher on the rotors, but i don't really know if it even matters, because even with regular carbon pads my rotors have little grooves worn into them.

thanks for the help in this matter. I do like the mud and water holes, and were I ride is a big coal mining area. So a lot of "crud " can get in there to the brakes. thanks again for the help.
