Default Which yamaha sport ATV for me?

Hey guys. I have my 05' raptor 350SE and its pretty fun, but quite frankly, i'm too heavy for it! I'm a big guy. bout' 225lbs. I just can't keep up with my buds on this thing. The power to rider weight ratio is just soo outa whack. So, being my size, and me being pretty much strictly a trail rider that likes high speeds and a little bit of jumping, which yamaha sport ATV would be best for me? I really like the YFZ450..

The raptor 700 is the machine for you. It can handle bigger riders, and is built for trails and even has reverse. The 450s just aren't made for trails or bigger riders. The raptor will go just as fast, but with the EFI and just the way it was designed in general, it'll be a more trouble free machine than the yfz, and with a more tame, managable, and usable power delivery for all types of riding.

Thanks man. I'll look into the Raptor 700. Probably pretty pricey...

The 700R and YFZ 450 are very close in MSRP. Both are good rides with handling/jumping favoring the YFZ and all day comfort/low end torque favoring the big bore. I like them both but prefer the 450 for most situations. I weigh 210 and my 450 has no problems handling the weight.

Thats good to know.. My only gripe againts the raptor 700r is that 700cc's is A LOT of bike man.. And I definately like the YFZ450's race inspired set-up. A lot of them here in AZ also. Probably pick one up for a steal in the cycle trader if I had to go that route.. Always prefer to buy new but sometimes founds just dont allow it.

Don't fall into the displacement game. Neither quad is a slouch when it comes to speed and acceleration. They are actually pretty evenly matched stock. If anything, the 700 has a more mellow powerband and better torque for trails. It is a freindlier motor in comparison. The YFZ is in another league still when it comes to handling prowess though.

the 700 isnt really a 700, its a 686, if you plan on buying one, buy the GYTR Package, it comes with yfz shocks and those are way better than stock 700 shocks. plus, it makes the rappy look cool.

I would get a raptor 700r or if you can get a good deal on a used 660r. These are perfect for trail riding. The yfz450 does not have reverse which can become a hassle when trail riding. Also if you're a tall person then you're going to feel cramped on the YFZ

Reverse is for girls and utility quads. Any normal sized adult can move the YFZ without reverse -- it's only 350 lbs after all.

I'm bigger than the OP and I love riding the YFZ. It's so easy to just toss around and make it do what I want, when I want.

IMO..if i was you go with the rappy..There is nutting wrong with the YFZ..Ok ill give it to ya like this..Im a FAT guy..im 6.1 250lbs..And the YFZ just feels small to me...My banshee felt small to me..Untill i put the +6 swing arm on it..Now i dunno if that makes any since to yall..But it just made it feel lots better..And now with my fat butt on the back i can keep it down....but ride both quads if you can..And choose the one that is best for you..
