#1
I have an 04 YFZ and have heard that i should swap out the stock rubber plug for a aluminum one, has anyone had theirs blow out? Just wondering if i should do this right away or is it not such a big deal!

I have an 04. I have NOT had any problems with the stock OEM plug coming out. I run the dog snot out of it, BUT I have a back-up just in case....

I think this tended to be a problem for guys that didn't realize the full oil check procedure and overfilled the engine. However, it is $20.00 to be sure you won't have the problem and possibly get stranded or have a costly repair. I would just install one for that piece of mind alone.

I have an 04... and mine blew out after riding it for about 2 years... (I was one of those guys that thought... It'll never happen to me.) It's not really a question of will it fail, more like when. Yamaha themselves have stated that it has a risk of blowing out even in normal riding conditions. My oil levels were accurate, and it still happened to me. It definately is a ride ruiner when it happens. (sucks to have to tow it back to the trucks.) It blew oil all over my radiator and header... I'm just glad nothing caught on fire. (they have burned up quads before, I've seen pics)
It's definately a must have mod on any 04 yfz...
