I am thinking about tearing down my '01' raptor to fix a shift fork, naturally I need to do the '02' trans upgrade. While it's torn down I was thinking of building a 686.
1. Is 11:1 pump friendly?
2. Do you need a new rod with 11:1, if so can I run a lower comp ratio on my stock rod, what about the crank?
3. Does a 686 need stronger gears than an '02' stock set? Yukon?
I run my Raptor 90% in the sand.

11:1 Is pump gas, find a sunoco and most of them have 94oct
You do not NEED a new rod or crank but I would strongly reccomend them (at least the rod), its a matter of time before they break.
The 02 gears will be fine with the 686

What about a used '02' tranny off ebay, should I even consider making a bid or just shop for new? I am thinking of a used transmission so i can afford to do more with the engine mods.
